Washington, D.C. —
Senator John Thune today released the following statement regarding the United States’ national debt reaching the $13 trillion mark:
“The red ink being passed on to future generations of Americans has reached an unprecedented level of irresponsibility. The Obama Administration and Democrats in Congress continue to pile up new federal spending without a second thought about saddling our children and grandchildren with the bill. Without tough decisions and a renewed sense of fiscal discipline, these actions will continue to lead the nation down a dangerous, unsustainable path. It is time for Washington to stop spending money that it does not have.”
