WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) today issued the following statement regarding the Department of Commerce’s announcement that the economy grew at 3.5 percent in the third quarter.

“Republicans came to Washington, D.C., to revitalize our economy, and we continue to deliver on our promises,” said Thune. “Today’s news is more evidence that Republican-led reforms to create policies and a regulatory environment that foster growth are working. Since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was passed last year, more than 1.8 million jobs have been created, and our economy is thriving. Unemployment remains at its lowest level since 1969, and there are now nearly 1 million more job openings than unemployed workers. Today’s revitalized economy is just what job creators need to grow their businesses, create jobs, and increase wages for hardworking Americans.”
