U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) was featured on CBS This Morning today discussing the bipartisan Employer Participation in Repayment Act, which would allow employers to contribute up to $5,250 tax-free to their employees’ student loans — providing employees with much-needed relief and employers with a unique tool to attract and retain talented employees.
“So many students who go to our best colleges and universities work really hard to get a degree, and then they come out and trade in their cap and gown for a mountain of debt and uncertainty,” Thune said.
“[The Employer Participation in Repayment Act] is not going to solve every problem, but we think it’s realistic. We think it’s something that could pass.”
