WASHINGTON, D.C. —
Senator John Thune announced today that the United States Department of the Treasury has approved a $100,000 grant for the Sicangu Fund in Mission.
“This important funding will directly strengthen and support Native American small businesses,” Thune said. “Every year, we count on small businesses to fuel South Dakota’s economy and create new jobs for men and women looking for work. I am a strong supporter of small businesses and will continue to work hard in Congress to pass measures that encourage their productivity and growth.”
The Sicangu Fund’s mission is to provide loans and technical assistance to small business owners on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation. The Sicangu Fund will use these funds to purchase consulting services to conduct an audit; develop capitalization plans and a webpage; acquire technology; obtain training for staff and board members on business lending; and for support operations.
