Washington —

U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) today welcomed dozens of World War II, Vietnam, and Korean War Veterans from South Dakota to Washington, D.C., who were there to visit war memorials honoring their service and sacrifice to the nation. The Midwest Honor Flight program coordinated today’s visit to Washington. Thune greeted a similar honor flight in May at the World War II Memorial.

“One of the great honors and privileges that I have is to recognize and thank our veterans, those people who have served our country and defended our freedom with great honor and distinction,” said Thune. “I had that opportunity this morning – we had an honor flight that arrived here in Washington, D.C., that provides these veterans an opportunity to see memorials and monuments that are erected in their honor, sometimes for the very first time.”
