ICYMI: Thune on Fox News: Democrats’ Partisan Spending Bill is Part of a Far-Left Agenda

“All of this is borrowed money, and we ought to be thinking about how do we target this, how do we do it in a fiscally responsible way, how do we help people that need help through the pandemic?”

Washington —

U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) today joined “The Story with Martha McCallum” on Fox News to discuss how the Democrats’ $1.9 trillion COVID spending bill is a waste of taxpayer dollars that would substantially increase the federal debt and be detrimental to the future of the nation’s economy.

On Democrats’ COVID-19 Spending Bill (click here to watch the video):

“This is part of a much broader far-left agenda. I’ve said this before, but the Bernie Sanders wing of the Democrat Party is running the show up here on Capitol Hill. This is the first step, obviously a $1.9 trillion bill, which is second to the CARES Act that we passed a year ago – the largest spending bill ever in the history of the country. At a time when we’ve got enormous amounts of debt, all of this is borrowed money, and we ought to be thinking about how do we target this, how do we do it in a fiscally responsible way, how do we help people that need help through the pandemic. But look at what we can do to get the economy growing and expanding again and creating jobs, Martha. That's ultimately what we want to see happen. The way to do that, obviously, is to keep taxes low, regulations low, have a good energy policy. It isn't to have a lot more government spending on things that frankly are totally unrelated to the pandemic.”
