Jobs and Economic Growth

Small businesses and other job creators need a friendly economic climate to grow and create new jobs in their communities.

Under the previous administration, sluggish economic growth led to a historically small workforce that was plagued by stagnate wages.

Last Congress, congressional Republicans and President Trump prioritized getting the American economy back on track by delivering historic tax and regulatory reforms, and we will continue to pursue pro-growth policies that will help grow our economy, create jobs, increase wages, and lift the burden that the federal government has placed on businesses, small and large.

As a member of the tax-writing Senate Finance Committee, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, and the Senate Agriculture Committee, I continue to work to ensure South Dakota’s small businesses, farms, and ranches are competing in an environment that encourages them to grow and create new jobs.

I also believe Congress can do more to ensure federal programs that are designed to help small businesses are not only as successful as possible, but are also operating in a manner that is effective and efficient, to best save taxpayers and ensure money is used wisely.
