Senator John Thune today issued the following statement regarding the transfer of ownership of Homestake gold mine to the state of South Dakota:
“The transfer of ownership of the Homestake mine to the state of South Dakota will answer a variety of legal and liability questions that have been surrounding the lab proposal, and I believe this will improve our chances for the NSF lab,” Thune said. “The entire delegation has supported this project wholeheartedly throughout this process, as it would create high-tech jobs in the Black Hills community and transform South Dakota’s economy for the 21st century.”
