Washington, D.C. —
Senator John Thune today announced a $360,000 federal grant, awarded to the East River Electric Cooperative of South Dakota. This grant was given by the Rural Economic Development Plan on behalf of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The USDA Rural Economic Development grant program is part of the USDA’s ongoing mission to ensure that rural communities can compete in the global economy. These grant programs are aimed at providing a feasible option for organizational marketing and distributing of agriculture products.
“This grant will assist the East River Electric Cooperative’s ability to successfully compete in a growing market,” Thune said. “It is vital that these South Dakota rural cooperatives have the opportunity to strengthen their business. I am proud to work with these local communities to create new jobs.”
