Senator John Thune announced today over $115,000 in Homeland Security grants for three South Dakota fire departments.
The Fort Pierre Fire Fighters Association, Inc. was awarded $63,878 through the Operations and Firefighter Safety Program. The funds will be put toward training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and modifications to fire station and facilities.
The Alexandria Rural Fire Department was granted $28,233 and the Columbia Community Fire Department was granted $25,007, both through the Operations and Firefighter Safety Program as well.
“These grants are important for all South Dakotans,” said Thune. “These grants will help local fire departments continue to play a vital role in keeping our communities safe and secure.”
