Senator John Thune today announced the United States Department of Agriculture has approved a $496,463 Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant for Northern State University (NSU).
“I’m pleased to announce this important funding for NSU that will directly increase access to quality education through state-of-the-art means for thousands in rural South Dakota,” Thune said.
NSU will use these funds to upgrade to Internet Protocol connectivity, which will link NSU and five participating rural school districts in South Dakota. The program will provide high school core curriculum courses, quality adult education opportunities, and superior professional development for students, teachers, and community members. Approximately 2,300 residents and 1,304 students in this rural area will benefit from the program.
