U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) issued the following statement today after the Senate passed the John S. McCain 2019 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) conference report, sending it to the president’s desk for signature:
“Our military is the best in the world, but restoring and maintaining readiness requires resources and smart policy. I’m pleased that, despite all the partisanship in Congress right now, we are sending the president legislation that makes sure our armed forces have the tools they need to defend our nation and keep Americans safe. The bill delivers for our military men and women and their families by giving them the largest pay raise in nearly a decade. With passage of the defense bill, Congress is fulfilling one of its most important responsibilities — enabling our military to address the challenges facing us around the world today while modernizing for the challenges that may face us in the future.”
