Washington, DC —  Senator John Thune today issued the following statement regarding the 10 by 10 Act, legislation that would amend the Clean Air Act to require that all gasoline sold for use in motor vehicles contain 10 percent of renewable fuel by 2010. Senator Thune is a cosponsor of the 10 by 10 Act, which was introduced in the Senate today.

"I strongly support the 10 by 10 Act to greatly increase the use of renewable fuels in this country by requiring that all gasoline used in cars contain 10 percent of renewable fuel by 2010. It's a high mark to reach but I'm confident we can achieve this," Thune said. "These are the kind of ambitious goals we must set in America if we are going to get serious about reducing our dependence on foreign oil and shifting to cleaner, more cost-effective alternative fuels. I will continue to work to promote measures like this that increase alternative fuel production and use and reduce energy costs for all Americans."
