WASHINGTON —

U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) today welcomed veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam who traveled from South Dakota to Washington, D.C., to visit war memorials honoring their service and sacrifice to the nation. The Midwest Honor Flight program coordinated today’s visit to Washington.

“There are few things more humbling than welcoming men and women who risked their lives in service of our country to our nation’s capital,” said Thune. “These heroes will have a special opportunity to visit the memorials that were erected for their service and sacrifice. I’m glad I had the chance to visit with many of them this morning at the airport, and I wish them a great day here in D.C.”
