Washington, D.C. —  Senator John Thune tonight made the following remarks after President Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress:

“Tonight President Obama shared his vision for addressing the economic situation our country is facing,” said Thune. “It is important that we work together to find sincere, workable, bipartisan solutions for the problems we are all facing. Although there are going to be philosophical differences in how we address some problems, there are areas where Democrats and Republicans can work together to make real and lasting improvements in the lives of every American. Whether it be transportation or energy infrastructure, entitlement reform, balancing the budget, or health care reform, Republicans are anxious to work with President Obama to develop true bipartisan solutions to the problems that we face. When we differ with President Obama, we stand ready to offer the American people better alternatives.”
