"As we gather with our families and loved ones this holiday season, I want to wish every South Dakotan a safe and Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year. We are fortunate to live in a state where family comes first, traditions are honored, and helping a neighbor in need is a shared sense of duty.
"During this Christmas season, I hope we can each pause to pray for those who are far from home or going through difficult times. In particular, I hope all South Dakotans will keep Senator Johnson in their prayers for a fast and full recovery. Let's also remember our troops in harm's way and the families of soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and now rest with Providence. Their sacrifices will not be forgotten and we are forever grateful for their service."
