U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) today issued the following statement after the Senate confirmed Bill Barr to be the next U.S. attorney general.
“Bill Barr is eminently qualified to be our next U.S. attorney general. He is not only thoughtful and even-handed in temperament, he is also a long-time public servant, having previously served as attorney general under President H.W. Bush. Barr has support and respect from both sides of the aisle, and I am confident he will be an independent attorney general whose allegiance will be to the rule of law and the Constitution. Barr’s previous experience will allow him to effectively lead the Department of Justice once again. I am proud to support him, and I look forward to the work he will do in this important role.”
