Washington, D.C. —  WASHINGTON – Today Senator John Thune, R-SD, announced that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that South Dakota gained 2,500 jobs in the month of April. South Dakota was one of six other states with the largest over-the-month percentage increase in employment. South Dakota has gained 7,000 jobs since April 2004 and its unemployment rate is 3.7%, far below the national average of 5.2%.

“Today’s announcement of job gains in South Dakota is great news for workers across our state. Our economy is growing and jobs are being created because of the pro-growth, anti-tax policies Republicans have implemented over the past five years,” said Thune.
