WASHINGTON —

U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) issued the following statement today regarding the Senate’s passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 2810), legislation that will help ensure our military has the resources it needs to carry out its missions.

“During the Obama administration, our troops often received the short end of the stick,” said Thune. “It’s time to get our military back up to full readiness. This year’s NDAA provides the tools needed to rebuild our military while also strengthening accountability and reducing unnecessary expenditures. The bill also gives our troops a much-deserved pay raise and provides measures to improve the quality of life for them and their families. These reforms in the NDAA will strengthen our military’s readiness — ensuring our men and women are prepared with the tools they need to keep America safe.”
