“The NDAA will help to restore our combat advantage and further rebuild and modernize our force so our troops are able to defeat any future threats we may encounter.”

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) issued the following statement today regarding the U.S. Senate’s passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA, S. 1790), legislation that will fund and strengthen our military.

“Ensuring our military is properly funded is essential in our current political and foreign relations climate. As we continue to monitor the malign behavior of Iran in the Middle East and negotiate with other countries like China and North Korea, our military must continue to represent the strength of our nation,” said Thune. “America must have the capacity to hold others accountable and deter any malicious acts of aggression here and around the world. The NDAA will help to restore our combat advantage and further rebuild and modernize our force so our troops are able to defeat any future threats we may encounter. This legislation also gives our service members a well-deserved pay raise – the largest in a decade. With the passage of the NDAA, we are able to ensure we can successfully protect Americans at home and abroad.”
