Washington, D.C. —  Senator John Thune (R-SD) today applauded Presidential signature of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act—legislation Thune cosponsored in the Senate.

"Today's signature of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act into law is a tremendous victory for America's gun manufacturers and retailers, and for the millions of Americans who pride ourselves in our constitutionally guaranteed right to bear arms," Thune said. "Judicial activism and frivolous lawsuits pose serious threats to the time-honored firearms industry—an industry that provides hundreds of jobs to South Dakotans and plays a central role in two of our state's chief sources of revenue—hunting and tourism. I was proud to cosponsor the legislation–which is now U.S. law—that will put a stop to these unjust lawsuits and protect an industry that strengthens our economy, our national security and our constitutional freedoms."
