Senator John Thune (R-SD) today commended the Senate Judiciary Committee for reporting Judge Samuel Alito’s Supreme Court nomination to the full Senate and urged his Democrat colleagues to confirm Judge Alito without delay:
"I’m pleased the Judiciary Committee has reported Judge Alito’s nomination to the full Senate for a vote. With his exemplary record, and a commitment to interpreting and applying the law fairly, Judge Alito deserves nothing less than a timely confirmation by the full Senate," Thune said. "It is the Senate's duty to give its advice and consent to Judge Alito's nomination, not to obstruct and delay. I urge Senate Democrats to put the best interests of the nation and the Court first and vote to confirm Judge Alito in a timely manner."
