Washington, D.C. —  Senator John Thune announced today that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved a $500,000 grant for the Turner County Dairy in Parker, South Dakota.

“This significant funding will help grow Parker’s economy,” Thune said. “Small businesses fuel job creation in America. I’m proud to help South Dakota small businesses.”

Rural Development funds will be used to assist farmers, ranchers and small businesses in developing renewable energy systems, and in making energy-efficient improvements to their operations. This project involves the construction of an anaerobic digester. The digester will use manure to create methane, and in turn, create electricity that will be sold to the local utility.
