Guns
I strongly support the Second Amendment, which protects "the right of the people to keep and bear arms." The plain language of the Second Amendment guarantees the right of law-abiding citizens to own firearms, something the Supreme Court upheld in both District of Columbia v. Heller and McDonald v. City of Chicago. Since being elected to Congress, I have been committed to protecting the important rights our nation’s founders incorporated into the Constitution regarding firearms.
Like many South Dakotans, I grew up with an enormous respect and appreciation for firearms, hunting, and the outdoors. As your U.S. senator, I will continue promoting issues important to South Dakota’s outdoorsmen and protecting the numerous hunting traditions we enjoy.
