Following media reports about the dropped coverage and higher premiums of Americans across the country, Senator John Thune (R-S.D.) led 33 of his Republican colleagues on the Senate floor today to draw attention to the stories of everyday Americans who are feeling the real world impacts of the president’s broken promise that the public can keep the plans they had and liked.
Thune called attention to a story from a family in South Dakota who recently received a cancellation notice in the mail for their current health plan. The family said, “We’ve had the same kind of health insurance for years. It worked for us, we are happy with it. When our current plan expires in 2014 it will no longer be available. We were told that our new policy will most likely cost over 100 percent more than what we pay now. We will not be able to afford it.”
