Washington, DC —  enator John Thune today joined Indiana Senators Dick Lugar and Evan Bayh, and Bob Dinneen, President of the Renewable Fuels Association, at an event to host and recognize the Indy Racing League (IRL) for its commitment to renewable fuels and underscore the importance of ethanol to reducing our dependence on foreign sources of energy. Beginning with the first race on March 24, all Indy Cars will be fueled by 100 percent ethanol.

Senator Thune issued the following statement:

"I want to congratulate the Indy Racing League on taking this important step forward in using ethanol to fuel their vehicles. This is a responsible step that sets a great example for all Americans on the importance of shifting to renewable fuels like ethanol to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and strengthen our national security."
