Washington, DC —
Senator John Thune today made the following remarks after it was announced that South Dakota Army National Guard - Battery C, 1st Battalion, 147th Field Artillery (Charlie Battery) has left Baghdad and begun the process of returning home:
"Charlie Battery has completed its mission with honor and valor. They left as fathers, brothers, sons, friends and neighbors and they are returning heroes. These men served to protect America and bring security and hope to the Iraqi people. Some in Charlie Battery returned home early and rest with Providence. We will not forget their accomplishments and their sacrifice. Each and every one of us owes them a debt of gratitude and a hearty welcome home," commented Thune.
