Thune Statement on Passage of Reforms to Provide Relief to Main Street

“Overregulation has hurt small, community banks and credit unions around the country”

March 14, 2018

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) issued the following statement today after the Senate passed the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act (S. 2155), which includes the most significant reforms to the Dodd-Frank Act since the law’s passage nearly 10 years ago:

“Overregulation has hurt small, community banks and credit unions around the country. This bipartisan bill targets relief to small financial institutions, freeing up the resources they need to help small businesses invest and hire more workers. This bill is just another example of how Republicans in Congress are advancing a pro-growth, pro-jobs agenda to expand opportunities for American workers. I applaud Sen. Crapo for the work he and his committee have put into drafting this bill and getting it across the finish line here in the Senate.”
