Senator John Thune today announced the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has approved a $132,358 Assistance to Firefighters Grant for the Viborg Fire Department in the area of operations and safety.
"I'm pleased to announce this important investment that ensures South Dakota firefighters are equipped with the best resources and tools to continue to do their jobs, boost community safety and save lives," Thune said.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program assists local fire departments in purchasing firefighting equipment, funding firefighter health and safety programs, enhancing emergency medical services programs, and conducting fire education and prevention programs.
