Senator John Thune (R-S.D.) today announced he would be holding town hall meetings in Spearfish and Mobridge next week to discuss the recently passed tax relief package, the debt ceiling negotiations, and the need to cut spending in Washington.
“It is time for our country to face its most fundamental fiscal challenge, runaway debt that is crushing economic growth and opportunity,” said Thune. “I have a responsibility to all South Dakotans to share the path forward on our nation’s fiscal stability. Failure by the Democrat-led Senate to pass a formal budget for nearly four years has pushed our country closer to a fiscal crisis. Reducing federal spending is the only way to return our country to a sound fiscal footing. We have a lot of work to do and I want to hear from South Dakotans as Congress prepares to address federal spending in the weeks and months ahead.”
