WASHINGTON, D.C.--Following numerous temporary Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization extensions, Senator John Thune today applauded the Senate's passage of H.R. 658, the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization and Reform Act of 2011. Thune serves as the Ranking Member of the Aviation Operations, Safety, and Security Subcommittee of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.

"I am pleased that after over 20 short-term extensions, Congress was able to come together and pass a bill that will provide four years of stability for the airline industry and the traveling public," said Thune. "This bill will provide the long-term authority South Dakota airports need to plan for the future, create jobs, and contribute to our state's economy."
