Washington, D.C. —
Senator John Thune announced today that the Rural Development office at the U.S. Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for grants for agricultural producers who engage in value-added production practices.
"Value-added agriculture is a major part of our nation's long term farming strategy," said Thune. "I urge South Dakota producers to apply for these grants, because South Dakota producers have strong potential in and much to gain from the value-added agriculture movement."
The Rural Development office will award grants on a competitive basis. Applications must be received no later than March 31, 2008. Further information is available at http://www.rurdev.usda.gov.
