Washington, DC —
Senator John Thune (R-SD) today issued the following statement condemning Hezbollah and its state sponsors, and supporting Israel's exercise of its right to self-defense:
"The War on Terror is an international conflict. This past week, Hezbollah terrorists and their sponsor states ignited another leg of this battle in Israel, by launching an unprovoked attack against Israeli soldiers," Thune said. "Unfortunately, America, along with many other freedom-loving nations across the world, knows firsthand the brutality and casualties of terrorism. Just like Israel, America has come under attack by terrorists with no regard for innocent life, and we know the critical importance of self-defense to protect our civilians and homeland. We must send a strong message of support to our close ally and friend Israel as its leadership and military forces defend their country against terrorism."
