Washington, D.C. —
Senator John Thune complimented the “amazing skill and determination of our troops” and said Iraqi security forces were improving, during a teleconference with reporters today.
“We’re making dramatic strides in terms of the improvement of Iraqi soldiers,” Thune said. “That process is really coming along. Last Sunday the Iraqis provided most of the security at over 5,000 polling places. That created a lot of confidence amongst the Iraqi security forces. I feel we are turning a corner there in terms of getting the Iraqi security forces equipped and ready to protect the Iraqi people.”
