Washington, DC —  Senator John Thune today announced the United States Department of Agriculture has approved a $173,429 Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant for the Catholic Chancery of Sioux Falls.

"I'm pleased to announce this important funding for the Catholic Chancery that will directly increase access to quality education through state-of-the-art means for tens of thousands of students and residents in rural South Dakota," Thune said.

The Catholic Chancery will use this Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant to provide educational opportunities to rural students and residents—including advanced placement, college, foreign language and art courses, along with various collaborative projects—through the use of interactive video-conferencing and a video-streaming server that will provide digital recording capability. The project will serve over 48,000 students and residents of rural South Dakota.
