Washington, D.C. —

U.S. Senator John Thune (R-S.D.), Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, today released the following statement ahead of President Obama’s health care speech to women later this afternoon:

“Instead of delivering another stump speech, President Obama should finally level with the American people about the true consequences of his signature law. Women are feeling these consequences firsthand. Instead of seeing their insurance premiums shrink, as they were repeatedly promised, they’ve actually seen them increase since ObamaCare’s enactment. As if that weren’t bad enough, ObamaCare’s incentive to employ part-time workers also means many women will face fewer hours and lower wages. Last month alone, nearly 280,000 Americans involuntarily entered part-time employment.

“ObamaCare is broken. It’s time to repeal this faulty law and replace it with common-sense reforms that truly protect American families and give them access to the care they need, from a doctor they choose, at a lower cost.”
